No, I realise the difference Hamish.
What suggestions can you make for the following scenario: I have been interested in a particular property that was sold in late 2010 and has since been undergoing building work. Less than a year later it was listed as having been sold at a considerably lower price. A local estate agent told me that it had definitely not been on the market.
I am thinking has it possibly been sold at a knock down price between, say father and son? Or, suggested by the EA, perhaps it was remortgaged.... but that wouldn't show up as a property sale?
Any ideas?0 -

Probably one of the above, or a transfer from individual to limited company or vice versa.
You could try https://www.ourproperty.co.uk and enter the postcode of the property you want to view. (You'll have to register, but it's free)
Then select the property from the streetlist, and click on the third (far right) icon in the column labelled "extras".
It should then show an extract from the land registry in a pop-up box with details of buyers/seller names and type of sale.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Thanks Hamish. I've registered and found the property. The columns only give Date, Property, Price and Maps columns though. I can't see one for 'Extras' at all.0

Ooops, sorry, just checked and it only works for Scotland.
The "maps" column is titled "extras" for Scottish postcodes and also contains the extract info.
I think you'll have to buy the extract from the land registry in England. Cheap enough to do, and also contains info on mortgage status.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
