your income is quite low; can you increase it by working overtime and/or getting a part time job.
you need to work out a proper budget.
the budget must show everything you will spend over the next year, that is not only the 'normal' monthly spends but also all the annual or one off spends.
with the annual/irregular/oneoff etc you need to work out a yearly figure divide by 12 and save that amount each month so instead of using credit cards you have the money saved up.
so your budget shows nothing for socialising, clothes, car tax, servicing, MOT/RAC/AA, xmas or presents, holidays, newspaper/magazines, haircuts etc etc.
absolutely essential you know where the money goes because without knowing you can't really control it.
stop using credit cards at all.
start that savings account for the annual etc spends.
only spend thats left after you have put away the money and if you cant afford it dont buy
start that spending diary thats already been mentioned.
add up the total for your monthly budget including all the annual costs (exclude debt repayments ) so you can see what your ordinary spending is costing you.
with the debts
say how much the loan repayment is
add APRs and monthly minimum payments on the CCs
add up the total debt
add up the total monthly minimum repayments
add up the total of spending and the debt payments
compare this to your income.0 -
Currently I have a job I love which is only weighed down by the very low wage,
added to that the irregular hours I work it makes it difficult to fit other jobs in,
Have looked at the snowball thing, and will begin to work out a diary of some form,
Thanks so far for the help0
