I have an Easiyo yogurt maker - I don't use the easiyo sachets though - just make it myself with UHT milk, skimed milk powder and tblsp yogurt (from freezer). Been swapping ideas for flavouring with a friend tonight and she mentioned that Easiyo now make an ice cream powder.....has anyone tried this please and how does it work in the Easiyo maker - or do I have the wrong end of the stick and you don't use the Easiyo maker for it?
Sorry to sound dim - but am really puzzled by this

I don't know about the powder, but i have an easiyo AND an icecream maker and they are very different things - good icecream depends on the mixture being 'agitated' (ie mixed!) while it's freezing. This ensures that there are no big ice crystals formed.
I was worried before buying my icecream maker that it would be a 'fad', but actually it gets lots of use - just this weekend i made peach icecream from our tree! i bought mine second hand from the new zealand equivalent to ebay, so if you can find one cheap, go for it!

easi yo ice cream is not made in the yoghurt maker but in the freezer like a normal ice cream0

Folio, I got an Easiyo for Christmas and I'm delighted with it - in fact just bought my milk powder this morning to try making it without the expensive sachets. I would love if you'd share your ideas on the different flavourings you use.
I gave my DS an ice-cream maker (cost about £30) for Christmas and he is not thrilled with it, saying he prefers shop-bought. However, DH and I quite like it but not sure whether I'd recommend anyone go out and buy one. I'll decide on that after I've been through a Summer with it and tried making ice-cream with all the lovely soft fruits!0 -

Hi there
Delighted to share my ideas for flavourings!. I use:-
1) crushed or pureed fresh or frozen fruit - raspberries are GORGEOUS! and you really only need a handful. I also add a little bit of sugar (usually about 1 teaspoon or less) if the fruit is tart
2) Low sugar jam - again you only need a little bit to get a lovely colour and flavour
3) chopped nuts and honey
4) melted chocolate and a few bits of chopped chocolate for texture (this for special occasions only!)
Also - I often strain the yogurt as I can fool my DS into thinking it is fromage frais then (he thinks he doesn't like yogurt :rotfl: ) When I do this, I put a layer of muslin in the bottom of a sieve, balance sieve on large jug or bowl, pour the yogurt onto it and leave in fridge overnight. The yogurt cheese (or fromage frais - if my DS is reading  ) I mix with one of the flavourings and the whey that has drained through I use for making muffins or scones or pancakes (add a tablespoon of dried milk powder if you want it a bit 'creamier')
Hope that helps!0
