    To answer AThomas, I have remortgaged with A&L (now Santander) several times & they have never asked for an updated proof of income. I'm assuming that they would if you were looking to borrow more money however...

    You have not remortgaged though if you have stayed with the same lender, you have simply changed the deal, as they already have the liability, they would not need further proof of income, unless you were increasing the amount.

    hello people
    Just a quick update. We followed CB4fWh and stayed with our lender but with a changed deal significantly better than what we were on before. As mentioned above this was the easiest frictionless solution for us given the circumstances. We could have got a slightly better deal if we'd shopped around but not significantly enough to go through the palaver.
