Default help

Hello,

I have recently purchased my credit history file only to find out that I have a default with O2 dating from May 2004. I was not aware of this default and don't remember receiving any letters to say that I was in arrears with this account although I do know that I had troubles closing my account as it wasn't closed properly the first time I rang them to close it. I understand that defaults stay on your file for 6 years, however is there a way to get it taken off as I had no idea I owed them money?

Any help appreciated
Becs

  • Write to 02 and explain. Ask their complaints department to investigate and give as much background as you can.

I had a similar problem with Natwest (a default on my file when there was no default- they had failed to take the DD). Although it took a while, they investigated and removed the default.
  • Thanks very much, fingers crossed!
