Help needed please, clearing up credit file.

Hi,

Just wondered if anybody could help please, my partner and I were declared bankrupt on 6 January 2010 and discharged early on 20 July 2010.

A couple of weeks ago I checked our credit report and found two outstanding debts so used a letter template to write to the companies. Anyway, I have heard back from Orange and they have asked for a copy of the discharge certificate which shows the Orange debt was included in the bankruptcy.

I can't find anything to say Orange was included, apart from the original forms I filled in prior to going bankrupt. I do have a discharge certificate but it doesn't show any of the debts.

So, should I have what they asked for or have they got it wrong? Just hoped for some advice before I write back to them.

Thank you for reading,:)
Charlotte

You just need to send them a copy of the discharge certificate and perhaps a covering letter confirming that all debts in existence prior to your BR are included in the Order. If they don't update your credit files following this letter then follow the procedure in the clean up thread and take it further to gain action.

All debts that existed at the time of the BR are covered, so you don't need to prove anything to them.

To avoid argument however, I would include a copy of the front-page of your BR forms along with a copy of the page that lists the Orange debt.

That way Orange have no excuse (rightly or wrongly) to argue and avoid updating correctly.
