Sister has a black astra. She has used 'L' plates with a self-adhesive backing on the bonnet and the hatch. Having passed her test now she has removed the plates but unfortunately there is bits of adhesive left on the paintwork which she can't remove. What can she use to remove this sticky residue?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

Hi wazza,
Try WD 40. I used it to get a sticky residue off my car a few months ago and it worked well and didn't harm the paintwork. Spray it on, and use a soft cloth and some elbow grease.
For anyone else trying to remove 'L' plates or other stickers.....use a hairdryer to warm the sticker before you try to remove it, this makes the 'glue' less tacky and so less sticky residue is left behind.

I used a steam cleaner, warm the sticker up and peel it off slowly keeping the steam on it all the time.0

Just dab petrol on it to disolve the adhesive, then remove and give a quick polish. Voila!Middlers0
