no regulator or court will write off the loan.

I strongly believe that the lender did not do a sufficient affordability check. I have paid the majority of the debt off so just paying the interest that was due on the loans now. Especially Halifax I called up to get a settlement figure 6 years ago and they sold me a loan. I know the rules for affordability checking for mortgages, FOS are tight about that but not about loans.
I want to firstly do a data request and see how they came to the decision to approve me. Regardless of what I did with the money, the bank had an obligation to ensure that it was affordable.
Well actually, it was you who had the obligation to ensure that the loan was affordable. You were the one who best knew your financial position.
Another chancer just trying it on I think.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Apparently the OP did lend his brother around 15 grand.

Wonder if brother is now claiming mis selling against OP?

That makes complete sense. The OP KNEW his brother could not afford to borrow £15k but lent anyway.

OP - Play by your own rules and strike this money off, along with everything else you lent to people with no chance of repaying.

This thread may shed some light on the overall position.

I was wondering if there was more to the thread and it seems this is it,

OP you took the loan out on your own free will and no one forced you to do it.

going by the other thread yes the OP appears to be a chick, i always assumed chicks were more financially aware but clearly not in this case.

I think I was mis-sold several pints in the pub last night.......

They never did a sobriety test before serving me the last 5 pints. I believe had they done so they would have seen I was already clearly drunk and by law they should not have served me any more.

Do you think I have a claim for the laundry costs of my bedding?

Not only that but they should give you back £15 for the cost of the 5 pints!
