No holiday allowed between April & September - some advice??

Technically, even if the company has agreed to the holiday they only have to give twice as much notice as the length of the holiday to cancel it. All you can do it appeal to their better nature, advising that you have booked it months ago and will lose a lot of money.0

even though technically during the time we are on holiday we wouldn't be at work we would be expected to cancel to be on standby so may not even get called in0

Did you book the leave or just assume its agreement when you booked the holiday?0

This situation is affecting our family too, the problem is that although its only a couple of months we have actually had our holiday booked 6 months before we found out and I work shifts so the holiday was booked when I was on my break in the shifts so wouldn't have been at work anyway, we stand to loose £1000+ if we have to cancel - does anyone know where we stand
does your travel insurance not cover cancellation?Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

I would loose the deposit plus the insurance wouldn't't cover the fact it was the Olympics, it was booked in at work from may0

I have a friend who's employers insist on this. Mind you, she works 6 days a week, not 2 days like your MIL.The opposite of what you know...is also true0

Sorry but this is nonsense. There may be some specific positions in banking where a restriction may apply but there is no way there is a blanket ban across the whole of the banking sector.0 -
Surely if you are away on your rotaed days off then the fact they have cancelled leave is beside the point because you aren't using the leave to go away?
Which is my point but we don't know exactly how it'll pan out but his line manager is still saying he may have to cancel to sit by the phone 'incase' he's needed - see is it just me who thinks it ridiculous0
