Party food boxes?

I've been looking for easy and cheap party food ideas and come across party food boxes, which have about 4 or 5 food items inside, including a packet of crisps, a sandwhich, cupcake ect. Just wondered if anyone had ever done that or been to a party where its been done? Sounds like such an easier idea, maybe have a big plate of chips to tuck into aswell? Or maybe just do sausages/fishfingers and chips, crisps and a few cakes.
I really want an easy party this year, cheap would be a huge bonus too.

I like that idea, it sounds like a nice way of containing the mess

May need a few extras to ensure you have enough for all

Went to a friends childrens party not long ago and she did these, they were really good, looked like happy meal boxes. She filled them with small sandwhiches wrapped in cling film, a squeezy yoghurt, grapes, crisps and a little packet of choccie.March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000

Like these http://www.partypacks.co.uk/food-boxes-cid16511.html, sounds so much easier than plates full of food.
Gleek, I love that website, I've never seen biodegradable party bags before, and those fabric ones with fabric crayons are a brilliant idea. Maybe I'll give them a sandwhich and a packet of sainsburys crisps and spend the rest on those! ;-)0 -
yes, done it twice now - saves lots of waste, and they get to take it home after!0

I think it sounds like a great idea. It means there is less wastage, people can take them home at the end and the mess is contained a little more. Plus I'm sure it's probably more hygenic than a plate of food that a lot of people are touching which is another bonus

I'm going to keep this in mind when I have to do kids parties for my wee one

Hi i did this for my daughter's 4th birthday, it was brilliant.
I got some boxes at tesco 50p for 4.
I put in them:
Sandwiches,
yogurt,
crisps,
kitkat,
an item of fruit.
Then i made up some jelly in disposible cups and used that as an extra for anyone who wanted one.
It worked really well and the kids all loved it, they could take it home if they wanted and they were easy to tidy up :j0 -
big thumbs up from me too.
Sometimes available from the £ shops but 100's on fleabay - or Peaks if you are that end of hampshire.
We bought plain ones - did nice big names, which my daughter coloured in and added a few stickers.
asda and tesco do value rolls - just the right size - no cutting into 4 etc and don't dry out. we stuck to cheese, jam or ham.
own brand crisps are in smaller packet sizes
we did cucumber and carrot sticks in tin foil to look like a cracker
value choccie biscuit with a party sticker popped on
to avoid confusion I wrote the kids names on stickers for their drinks -( with a sports cap to minimalise spillage.)
For the main cake we made a tower of cupcakes - each child took 1 home
worked a treat !"A wise mum remembers her friends at all times, a foolish mum, only when she has need of them..."0 -
How do you decide which sandwhiches for which child, did you ask the mums in advance? I was talking to one mum today and discovered she's vegie, so not sure putting ham in for everyone is a good idea, but kids these days are so fussy!0

Just put a note on the invite - on the yes or no slip to ask what would be prefered.
For a party in the park I had plain buttered rolls - cheese strings/cubes + mini pepparami/cocktail sausages for them to pick themselves when they chose their drink.
If in doubt - keep it simple x"A wise mum remembers her friends at all times, a foolish mum, only when she has need of them..."0 -
I have done these the last few parties I have done, on reply slip I normally get them to say if they want ham, cheese, jam or marmite, then make the boxes up with the other bits in like yoghurt tube, grapes, crisps etc put these on the table and when they are sat down I then go round and add the rolls which I have put sticky labels on with their name, less waste and stops them from putting all the cocktail sausages on their plate and then not eating them!!0
