Can I leave a work trial?

As I understand it, the employer cannot take someone on for a work-trial, unless there is a job vacancy to be filled, and the candidate is basically being given a chance to prove themselves in that job without any financial risk to the employer, so make the most of it, try your hardest, you may come out of it with a job.
I was asked at the Work Programme last week to write a list of companies I'd like to work for and they will call them to get me a work trial to and I quote 'get experience' but I pointed out I have 20 years experience in my field. I said I didn't have a prefered list of companies that I would want to work for so now I have to come up with a list of them. And no there does not have to be any job available they can just use you for whatever means they chose.0 -
Thanks for the replys guys.
I'm not going into details here on why I want to leave the job early.
I read this on the JCP Website:
Your benefits will not be affected if you:- want to leave the Work Trial early
- turn down the job if you are offered it at the end of the tri
Common sense really, a work trial is a work trial and If things don't work out your benefit won't be stopped. As usual you have people on here giving opinions about whether or not your benefit will be stopped who just haven't got a clue how the benefit system works and just guess at everything.
Hope that you may get another work trial and it is something that you like and suits your skills and experience0 -

Do you have to have what the Jobcentre would deem a 'suitable' reason for leaving the work trial?
Cheers0 -

Just like you I have gone by the JCP website where it states you can clearly leave before the trial ends and your benefits will not be stopped. It doesn't state at all that you have to give a reason only that it wasn't suitable for you.0 -
There used to be a scheme where you could come off benefits (Jobseekers) take a job and leave without sanction after being there5 weeks and before 12 weeks were up, dont know if this is still there or not?0

Well I've been at the job for a week now and I'm still not enjoying it at all. The initial position was for an I.T Technician but I have been in the warehouse every single day which I was not told about. I have never wanted to do warehouse work and it has never been a selection of mine.
I am going to go into work late tomorrow and called the jobcentre in the morning.0
