Footballers are well paid. Or pilots.

You really need to give a bit more detail. By support worker I presume you mean some sort of care?

Are you good with numbers, people, gift of the gab?

Yes support in the care field although I did enjoy it there's not much money in it. I do think I have the gift of the gab and enjoy seeing progress and am both money and people driven.

    What qualification do you hold?

Is moving into social work an option?

This may seem intrusive but I think it's relevant. Can you please explain what "turning your life around" means? There is abundant (although I agree, not well paid) in the support/care field, so I cannot quite equate this with having been out of work for quite some time. If there is something we need to know, then the advice you get will be better for the detail!

NVQ2 in support work. I need to earn some money and don't have the funds to train further.

To cut a long story short I had a breakdown some years ago and then was abused by a professional for many years.I'm now in the process of moving on with my life and gained my qualifation last year.
  • If you are motivated and like people perhaps you could try working in sales somewhere?

I was thinking maybe sales, I don't have any experience at all, whats the pay like? was also considering recrument consultant?
  • If a high wage is what you're looking for, support / care work is not where you're going to find it! That being said, if you're prepared to do them, there's usually plenty of overtime going. And look for somewhere that will fund you to complete NVQ Level 3, especially since the higher qualification will probably earn you a payrise.

Without experience though, you can't expect too high a wage in any industry. Don't discount how important things like enjoying your job and good working hours are - especially if you're planning a family. Ask yourself if it's really worth doing a soul-destroying job just because the pay is good.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

In real terms I need to get money together to be able to have children in a couple of year as my oh pay won't be going up. I don't have any family that would be able to help with child care so its unlikely I could go back to work.I'm in my late 20's so have a couple of years to play with. I'm prepared to work hard in a job that I may well not being doing for long in order to take a break
