Any Aldi ground coffees any good?

I’m looking for a fairly strong coffee for use in a cafetiere that tastes similar to Sainsbury’s Continental Style Fair trade strength 4, but which is cheaper. It costs £4.25 for 454g (£9.36/kg). I have tried Aldi’s Alcafe Rich Roast and Ground Coffee strength 4, and that is quite good, and a bit cheaper @ £1.75 for 250g (£7.16/kg). Does anyone recommend any of Aldi’s others. I wondered in particular if the French ground coffee strength 5 was OK. The others seem to be strength 2 or 3, but I like it stronger. I also think you do not need to use as much coffee. Thanks.

Thanks for the links. I’m not sure how up to date this site is. I had already looked at this and seen ALDI Alcafe Premium Roast Original Blend Roast and Ground Coffee, Strength 3, 454g @ £2.99 and looked for it in Aldi. All I could see was 250g Aldi’s Alcafe Rich Roast and Ground Coffee strength 4. I’ll check again, but none of the coffees seemed to weigh more than 250g either, so I thought they had changed the product range.
I’ve checked out the Tesco coffees. They no longer have the Expresso on the website. The Tesco's Finest Java Sumatra Ground Coffee now costs £3.29 for 227g, which is £14.49/kg. That is quite expensive coffee and makes the Aldi £7.16/kg seem brilliant. I’ve just tried another cup of it and think it’s good, though it’s personal choice. I had wanted to try the Aldi French ground coffee if anyone thought it was OK. I hate buying stuff only to find I don’t like the taste. I’ve done that with some Lidl coffee a while back now. I was lucky with the Aldi one which I shall probably continue to drink in future.0 -
Do you have a Home Bargains near you? I've been buying Lyons Rich Roast or After Dinner coffee from there for about £5.65 a kilo, which is less than half of the RRP - it's sold in 175g bags. Although it's strength 4 I use less of it per cup than the other brands I used before (have tried many including Tesco Finest and Aldi's coffees) and I prefer the taste too.0

Hi rosy, thanks for the info. Unfortunately I don’t have a Home Bargains near where I live. However, I’ve made a note of the coffee, and when I go somewhere that has one I’ll look out for it. I’ve downloaded a list of my nearest ones off the Internet.0
