employment help needed

hi, im currently in a bit of a rangle and wondered if anyone could help.
at the begining of november an agency phoned me about a few jobs most of which didnt interest me, one interested me a little so i said ok send my cv, she sent my cv across and they wanted to see me, we arranged a date but i decided it wasnt what i was looking for so pulled out.
a month and a half later another agency foned described a job to and i thought it would be perfect for me then he told me the name just so happened it was the job i rejected before so i told him got an interview there went there liked it, went back for a second interview. got offered the job. accepted the job. got the offer in an email. everything was going great untill today when i found out that the 1st agency has found out about that i got the job and are now claiming that they were the 1st people to introduce so it is them that should get the fee.
now the employer has 2 agencys wanting the fee and they are going to withdraw the job offer based on this.
now where i am stuck is i have put a deposit down on a flat £500 and spent another £500 on furniture.
everyone knew in the begining that i the 1st agency had been the 1st ones to introduce from the begining.
and now im the 1 thats left out of pocket unless 1 agency backs down which neither wont.
the thing that gets me is they all knew about this yet still went through with everything, gave me the offer a week before xmas even my landlord phoned up the head chef and he said yes he has definatly got the job.
what can i do????

Not a lot you can do really as it's between the agencies and employer. but as you didn't have an interview through the first agency, it'd be unlikely that they've got any claim on the fee.0

yeh in a normal world that would be the point but in this case the hotel in question gets all there relief chefs off them on a matchday so the head chef doesent want to !!!! the 1st agency off. the 1st agency said they will do an offer for 50% of the fee but the second agency wont have none of it. i dont get it.
does anybody think that if this does fall through that i would be able to go to small claims court for the deposit on the flat and petrol wasted??????0 -

Tough basically to agency 1, the HC should be telling agency 1 to !!!!!! off and that if they try it on then he will goto other agencies to get his relief chefs in the future.
The power is not with the agency.
As for the claim, I doubt it but always check with a professionalThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!
