Quick q re debts unpaid

Hi all

Just a quickie from me again

I went through my credit report and there are loads of small/largish debts on there that I have no letters for - Obv remember some but not all - Should I leave them where they are (no contact etc) or should I start sending out 'prove it' letters to the companies?

Thank you

Would start with that method. It may also be worth noting (and this should not happen) sometimes there can be double listing so start with who you owed originally and find out who owns it now, as only one party can hold your debt
  • Thank you very much Camuk :)

I'm starting to tackle Marstons now (largish 'non friend' debt) and have sent out a SAR with £10 p/o this morning, now I think it's time to sort these littler ones
I will find a prove it template and start gathering all information for them

    :)

If you've recently requested your credit file for the first time in ages then you might actually find some of the creditors listed (or DCAs) will contact you / start to chase again over the next few weeks. This is because you when you request your file you either provide a new address, or confirm you still live at the same address on file.

So might be worth seeing if any write to you before you start contacting them.

  • Thanks Tixy

I actually have my credit file for a while now (around 6mths) but although checked it, never really took much notice until now if that makes sense?

I need to stop paying the £14.99 p/m to credit expert & £6.99 p/m to experian so they are all updated fully now and I presume everything is on them, so Ive started to keep a text doc on the computer with details of all the debts, then I can close both accounts thus saving myself £21.98 p/m also
