what are the chances of Barclays accepting me?

I have recently opened a new account with them last month.

I want to apply for a £3000 loan.

My disposable income each month is £400.

Any feedback?

  • Why not ask them? It doesn't matter what we say. All that counts is the bank's response. A quick phone call or visit to your branch won't do any harm.

  • How much credit do you have available i.e. credit cards/store card/overdraft? Do you have any adverse credit history and Do you have other credit agreements?

My old debit card with Lloyds, I kept going into my OD, which was £500

I am currently still in that, -£500

    I owe Wonga £1400 on 2nd Feb

    Its currently at £1100

I dont have any other debt, I just know my credit rating isnt great

I think they will want you to clear the od first..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Question they will ask is if yo have £400 disposable income each month why do you still have a £500 o/d elsewhere?
  • What do you want the loan for? If it is for purchases what about the Barclaycard Platinum 14 months at 0% for purchases? You can use the Barclaycard pre-application checker - https://letmechoose.barclaycard.co.uk/ to see what your odds of getting accepted are without affecting your credit profile.

Well Its really just to clear off my OD and Wonga

It's mixed news - You're not currently eligible to apply for a Barclaycard but there may be alternative products with other providers
