jsa ?

im seeking work and sign on but dont get any money as my partner works 16 hours a week :( im on jsa which stands for job seekers allowance but i dont get anything to seek employment ?

Comments

  • If you do not qualify for Contributions Based JSA your partners income will be taken into account. Have you been in employment over the past few years?
  • If you have no children and your partner earns over £105 a week, then normally you would not receive anything, however, you would be entitled to rent, council support, dependent on your partners income. The £105 is what the goverment say you can both live on.Hope that helps a bit.
  • thanks for your replys, ive been unemployed since april 2011 and its been difficult to find employment so i renewed my folklift licence got a cscs card for sites but work what is available is on agencys and they cant promise you much work a part from the odd day here and there? my partner claims tax credits and if i take these odd days what they offer me, she says it will mess the tax credits up? ie: they stop her credits for at least 8 weeks to change our situation but this is going to splitt us up cause i cant find long part-time work?.

In this day and age you just need to man up and take any job you can get.

You're being offered work by agencies and refusing? Disgusting.

Of course I would. I have a 10 month old son I will do ANY job to make sure I put clothes on him and food on the table for him.

I would litterally do anything to keep him safe and well.

I always thought this site was a place to get useful advice and support. This comment is neither. You clearly do not understand how the benefits system works. I hope you never get caught in that trap.

He said he was being offered odd days nothing long term, i was and have been advised not to take such offers as they mess up the claim, and is one or two days work worth the hassle of signing off and on again? I was given this advice by jobcentre staff.
