If in doubt, go for trousers, shoes, shirt and tie possibly leaving out the tie/ jacket0

You need to look the part as the potential employer will form an opinion of you before you even open your mouth and start to sell yourself to them. First impressions really do count at interviews.
Go with the suit only if you feel comfortable in one, if you don't then smart trousers and a shirt, again only wear a tie if you feel comfortable.
Good luck and I hope your successful in getting the job!!!0 -
It's a compromise because you want to look smart and professional enough to get the job, without looking afraid to get your hands dirty! A good rule is to dress for one level above the job you are going for, even if it's quite casual dress smarter for the interview. A smart shirt and trousers should be fine.0

My view is that you should dress respectfully. Your clothes should state that you are there as a prospective employee looking for a job. They should be fairly plain an not expensive designer, even if you have a wardrobe full of the best designer clothes.
If you are male a suit or jacket with tie and plain trousers should be OK. I would still wear a tie even if you think a jacket or suit is a bit over the top and the mananger who wil be interviewing you will be dressed fairly casually. No jeans or trainers.
If you are female then dress like you are attending something with your husband/boyfriend dressed like above -that's my best stab. Maybe female pmembers here could help more than me.0 -
firstly congrats on getting the interview
Personally i always wear a suit to interviews, but i also wear a suit to work. I would suggest wearing what you feel most comfortable wearing, where is the interview taking place? if it's onsite you might be inclind to not wear a suit but if it's taking place in an office or hotel conference room etc you might think a suit is more important
Be aware that if there is a few interview candidates you might be waiting in a room before hand with a load of people that are either dressed much less or much more smartly than you.
Years ago i applied for an internal vacancy at my old work, the interviews were on friday and we had a casual friday policy so most applicants turned up in jeans etc
I walked in wearing a suit and i instantly had the psycological edge on them
good luck0 -
suit but open neck shirtDebt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
Suit. With tie. Demonstrate to the employer they can send you somewhere smart without you being an embarrassment to the firm.
Take clean overalls and steelies in a bag in case you have to go on site or do a practical.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Probably better to wear something an electrician would at work.
Would be more professional than a suit..0 -
In the end I couldn't bring myself to wear a suit cos i just wouldn't be comfortable in one, i've basically only ever worn a suit 10-15 times and 5 of them were court appearences!
so I went, wore a plain black polo shirt, dark jeans and shoes. and I got the job!0
