Trying to do husbands SA...driving me potty please help!
-he pays tax in Norway
-Norway and UK have a double taxation agreement
-he has paid £33492 in tax in Norway, in the uk it should have been £25152.
-I know that you don't get the difference back. I have put in all the figures as i have done in previous years but it is saying we are owed the difference in amounts £8430 which we aren't. The end calculation should be nil. In the final box where it asks for the foreign tax credit relief against UK income tax, should I be putting £33492?? I did last year (different figures but same principle-we get full tax relief) If i put this it then says we are owed £33492 in back tax! I am very confused, has this form changed since last year? Thanks.

The foreign tax credit relief cannot exceed the UK tax chargeable on that particular income. Restrict it to the UK tax chargeable on the Norwegian income.0
