Hello
We have just moved into a new house which has a really useful understairs cupboard which fits all our shoes and boots and we can hand all of our coats up too. Trouble is, shoes/boots/trainers for five people can pong a bit, which is rather embarassuing when we offer use of the cupboard to visitors! Before I get used to the musty smell and stop noticing it, does anyone have any ideas for getting rid of it. I'd rather not to something too chemically and don't just want to mask it with something ghastly; I'd rather use something as natural as possible and something that abosorbs the odour.
It needs to be in the cupboard rather than treating each item of footwear and something quick and simple would be useful.
Not too much of a tall order, is it?
Thanks

I would try putting a tub of bicarbonate of soda tucked away in a corner somwhere it is not likely to get knocked over (minus it's lid so it can absorb the odours). It needs to be changed regularly (maybe once a month).Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I would pop half a raw onion on a saucer in the corner of the cupboard - It seems to absorb nasty niffs - however dont forget to change the onion every few weeks.0
