Any experience of laser hair removal?

Hi
I am investigating laser hair removal and wondered if anyone has any experience of having it done.
Is it effective?
Is it permanent?
How much is it?
Is it worth the cost?
I am thinking of starting with underarm hair and if it is good then progress to bikini line (which is where I really want it done.)

Be kinder than necessary because we do not know the battles that someone else may face

It's one on those 'how long is a piece of string' questions.
I had it on legs (6 sessions), underarms and bikini line (12 sessions) around 5 years ago. It cost around £2000 and has worked brilliantly. Apart from about 20 hairs per leg and a few in the other areas, I'm hair free. they say it's not permanent - I had a few hairs grow back during pregnancy - so top ups may be required every couple of years. A lot of the salons are unlicensed and don't have powerful equipment, so do your research.
I believe it worked well for me as I had very dark hair and pale skin. It doesn't work as well on blondes or tanned skin (you can't expose treated skin to the sun for quite some time during or after treatment).Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

I talked about my laser hair removal on my face in the 'hair removal on face' thread.
I'm very happy with the results and plan on going for a top-up session in a couple of months before the sun comes out again.
I was thinking seriously about getting laser done as a brazilian and on my underarms but I thought: it's really not so bad swiping a razor under my armpits in the shower every day, takes 10 seconds, and one day big pubes may come back into fashion. Lol joke, I only didn't do it because I didn't quite fancy anyone other than my boyfriend and my doctor staring at my bits and having to hold bits back to access the hair!! :shhh: I used to go for a brazilian wax every month or so and just couldn't look the nice lady in the face before or after, so now I just shave about twice a week and there's no problem.
For me, shaving is such a non-issue that it really wouldn't be worth that sort of money, and embarrassment, and the time having to go for 8+ sessions . My boyfriend doesn't notice anyway!
Look out for a groupon or wahanda that offers laser sessions and you could get a barg which could help.0 -

The decent places don't tend to be on the deal sites.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

My experience is like Mildred, for me it was 100% worth it! I have a few hairs on my legs & bikini like, but they are almost invisible. My skin is pale and my hair was very dark & strong, I think this helped! I think I had 3 sessions on the bikini line & underarms and 4 sessions on the legs.
Would like to go for a top-up soon but with such little hair is quite hit & miss, as the laser has to be applied when hair is growing, it's not effective otherwise.
I did mine in Spain but I would go somewhere like this:

1. It depends on your hair type, thick and pigmented (dark) hair responds very well (upto 95% removal using ND:YAG laser) Also depends on the laser used. IPL, used by most, is the least effective.
2. In some cases yes
3. Depends how much you get done and how many treatments you need
4. No more shaving!!
Here are some prices for full body laser hair removal

This can happen, especially with certain skin types. And ESPECIALLY with IPL!!
Can you tell us where he is on the Fitzpatrick Scale?0 -

The same place I had mine done, I spotted on Groupon a few months after I had completed my treatment. I haven't seen them doing an offer since though. It is a place I would highly recommend and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else!
But bearing in mind that some less than decent places may be on the deal sites, I'd say anyone considering laser treatment is best off getting a personal recommendation from a friend who has had it, or maybe a blog review or something, and THEN look for the Groupons.0
