Does anyone remember it?
I know it involved white toilet soap, and laying down a towel and stamping on it to draw out all the water, but I can't remember the details.
I have a 5 foot strip of carpet just inside the front door. It's pale green and is starting to look a bit grubby. No outstanding stains just a bit yucky looking. I'd used this method a few years ago on a small section of carpet and it worked wondefully, but now I can't remember how exactly I did it.

Found on the web but perhaps will take repeated action as worn in?

Removing carpet stains
Entertaining can mean nasty spills and stains on your carpets. To remove these mop up as much of the spill as you can with a few dry sheets of paper towel and smack them with the flat of your hand to soak up the stain, until you see it fading. Then take three sheets of paper towel and put them in cold water – lay them flat on the stain and smack with the flat of your hand. Then use dry paper towel and stamp on them to soak up the water. Don’t wait until the stain is dry or it will take you four times longer – clean as it happens and you can’t go wrong!

Hiya,
I found that (white or original) "Stardrops" does a great job on carpets, I use it for spotcleaning and in the carpet washer!!
I dilute 60 ml on 5 litres in the machine, or for stubborn/ grubby stains neat on sponge, scrub til its foamy, then do the same with rinsed damp sponge or cloth ( i have a bowl with clean water next to me when i do that)
I then put old towel on carpet and do a little 'River-dance' until it's nearly stamped dry. I then hoover when completly dry
Stardrops is available from Home-Bargains, about 90pence :j
Hope that helps

I used biotex & stardrops in hot water on gross magic gloop dropped on the carpet by DS2 , it got most of the stain out though I need to go over it again, but it also left a lovely clean patch on the carpet
... I think I need to make a bigger batch or get the carpet cleaner out...
