stevie_m - on the front page of the forum, at the top of the list of threads, you'll see a "New Thread" button. :)

  • My friend is deeply in debt. I am trying to persuade her to seek help and address the issue urgently. She is putting it off because she is afraid that her partner's income will be taken into account, making repayments bigger than she can afford herself. She does not want to exacerbate her marriage problems by taking his money to clear her personal (credit card) debt. It seems that the forms you complete for Citizens Advice etc ask for the household income, and she wants to clear the debt herself, without recourse to her partner's income. Your comments gratefully received.

Hi MadMitch, can you get your friend to list a Statement Of Affairs on here? The SOA should include all of her income and outgoings. All debts including monthly repayments, balance outstanding and the interest rates charged. Also if she is behind on any payments. I think SouthernScouser has done a template for a SOA which is pretty good. Although she is already going through the citizens advice bureau which is brilliant, by posting on here she would also get some brilliant advice to help her to understand the situation and what her options are. Good luck.
