Argos Bad Security!!!!!

Hello im not to sure that i'm on the right section, but whilst shopping in Argos ( Leeds, Headrow) on the 22nd December 11, my bag got stolen from my sons pram which he was sat in at the time. As i approached the store manager he said there was no CCTV on the shop floor, and just shrugged me off.
As i walked down the street I got talking to 2 police officers and i went down to the station.
I later found out whilst been there that it had already happend 5 times, and that they do have CCTV
the police woman looked at the footage but you couldnt see where i was stood because there was a poster in front of the camera which is negligence and im so dissapointed. At work i got told to never leave a box in front of a fire exit, its basically the same as doing that.
The fact the store manager was so rude about it has really disgusted me.
I have been told to go to CAB to see if there is anythnig the company can do for me as compensation for the lack of security around this time of year and lack of politeness about the situation
If anybody can suggest what i should do i would be greatful
Thankyou Danielle

Are you seriously suggesting that it's the stores fault that you left your bag in a place where a thief could easily get to it?
You won't get a penny out of 'em.0 -
There is absolutely nothing you can do about it, sorry.
It's up to individual companies as to whether they have CCTV. It's not a legal requirement and I wouldnt waste your time
going to the CAB to be honest.
You cant get compensation for being daft enough to leave your handbag unattended or someone speaking rudely to you.
All you can do is move on and learn from it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Sorry, I agree with the other posts, but I can understand your frustration and it seems silly they would install cameras and block them with a poster. You are unlikely to receive any compensation, but regarding the way the manager spoke to you, perhaps contact their head office, you might at least receive an apology or a voucher at most.0

I agree too, just didn't want to be the first to say it!!!Life is like a box of chocolates..........you always seem to pick the hard ones!0

The cameras are there to protect Argos from their customers and their staff stealing from them - nothing else. If they choose to block the picture, that's their choice. You have no claim against them. If you have personal possessions cover on your home insurance, this may help - however if you turned your back on the pram for a moment providing an opportunity for the theft, the insurance probably won't pay.0

thankyou for your help! i know its down to my own stupidity, i was just wondering if there was anything that could be done only down to the fact many more other people had had it done to them in the swame day same store.
my partner told me to come on here to see what everybody else thought and in all fairness you've replied with what i thought.
I will obviously email about the rudeness but there is nothing that can be done about that i guess.
will just be more carefull next time i decide to go shopping.
