MOOLOO'S continuing saga Part 4

Sounds like a nightmare. Any policies and procedures, health and safety stuff, accident book, complaints procedure, lines of reporting, and etc and etc and etc ?
Had the Manual Handling course last week.
The policies that they are adhereing too appear to be more for the Carers that deal with the Service users/clients rather then the shop.
But I have asked them to investigate what they do and dont have.
I do remember quite a bit of it from my BHF days and have asked for the relevant stuff to be sorted out. Meanwhile I am using my common sense, and trying to pass that on to the workers there. I will take a look and see if there is an accident book in the shop when I go in later.
Lines of reporting, really they are so small, but i have a note book that goes back to the office and is dealt with by the office staff. However its a work in progress shall I say.
I really don't mind. I will get it ship shape, and it will be a challange that I will enjoy. yes its a nightmare at the moment, but its also practically a blank canvas to start again.
Lets face it, really its just been limping along, with volunteers who open up for 2 hours then go again, leaving carers and service users to man the shop.
I may be opening up today, not sure, as the member of staff who should be opening up today, may not turn up.( She didnt come to the meeting on Wednesday and hadnt turned up on the Tuesday last week, and is related to the one who gave me hassle on facebook.).
Time to get on or I will not be ready myself and DGD will get away with murder and the TV.:(When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Good luck with it, it does indeed sound like a blank canvas; you can make a clean sweep and a fresh start..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

If only I could do that in the rest of my life!:D
I went to see if the volunteer had arrived..Nope. And they hadnt called in, so it seems that for now I will be filling in the gap on a Tuesday morning from 9-11.
The Carer and Service customers came down to the shop with things that I had previously sorted out and with the Colour Dots for the week, on everything. Brilliant start considering its a big change, and I had only left a note in the book on the sort room desk. I went through the drawers in the display cabinet. Found the Legislation notes for the Volunteers and the fire check information. Moved the First Aid Box to the front of the drawer, and labelled the drawer. Also had the Personal Alarm back on the counter for the vunerable ones.
I moved all the various bits of information on the notice board into some semblance of order, and noted those that are needed to be updated. (The Insurance and fire certificates for a start).
I now have some space to update some of the Targets etc there.
I also found a calander so hung that on the wall, and will encourage volunteers to let us know if they are planning not to come in.
I didnt sell much, there were not many people through the door, I had 7 buying customers and £13.10 through the till!. Not exactly going to get far on that kind of money.
I had started to price up and check the Music section, when the service users came, and then really with 3 of them there was not enough room for me to stay.
I came home for my lunch, and then went back out to collect a parcel. As I had a little spare time I went into the sort room, and did a little more work down there. Leaving notes in the book, hopefully is a way forward to communicate.
After that I had my time, and went to have my hair done, and finally got it done. The hairdresser is really not well, and should have been at home not at work bless her.
I popped in to see my Mum and Dad. Oh dear, they are talking of the valuables and the things that they want certain ones of us to have. So I have been given my Mum's Cameo jewellry. They do not want things to go Missing or to the wrong people as they have seen when thier parents died, and other elderly that they know. I did say that I hope that they were not going to pop thier cloggs while they were in France for christmas.
It was a longer day as Molly's daughter had collected DGD for me, and had her at my home.
Twin2 rang, she has tonsilitus, and cannot go to work in her Pizza place for 6 days. No pay. She has also been Sanctioned by the Benefits agency for 4 WEEKS, no money as she missed a interview with Ingus. Or Eto E. cant remember which one.
So what is she going to live on?
Where is she going to get the funds to travel to the next interview with a bus fare of £10 approx?????
THE SYSTEM IS STUPID
The house is FREEZING. I went by to drop a book off for DS. He was dressed and in a dressinggown as well.
What the hell is going to happen to my family in the real winter. They will die if they have no amenities and/or food.
Thats the Government for you.
I am really upset. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Can you get onto her social worker and explain the situation? Is there a way around it? I would have thought that sick pay would be available to her, but I'm not that familiar with all that.
Does your daughter get her meals delivered or is she capable of preparing a healthy meal? I suppose if she isn't eating properly, then she will easily get ill. x0 -
Do they manage their money properly? It is surely a huge step forward that twin 2 has a little job, you must be really pleased.
i am just wondering if they spread their money around over the bills properly to cover everything?
Don't they REALLY have enough to live off or do they have money that is spent on convenience food/alchohol/cigarettes etc0 -
Unfortunately sanctions for JSA changed on 22nd October http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/jsa-sanction-changes.pdf
Now things like missing an appt gets you an automatic 4 weeks sanction, then if you do it again you get 13weeks sanction and if you do it again you get another 13 weeks sanction.
Has she appealed and also claimed hardship?
Did she have good cause not to attend the interview?
Unfortunately they are relying on people asking for food from food banks etc as you are not entitled to a crisis loan while you are sanctioned.0 -
Surely those rules don't apply to people with learning disabilities though?!0
-
Unfortunately they apply to everyone who claims JSA.
Hopefully their details have been coded with info on learning disabilities and then if an appeal is made and mentioned the learning disability then this will go in their favour.
Hopefully Mooloo's daughter has a good reason for not attending such as being at work etc and might be able to get the decision overturned.
I agree it is a very harsh system but for people without disabilities it is time they got tougher - I have a client who regularly misses his appointments for things, has a really bad attitude and now at least he will see the consequences of his actions.0 -
She doesnt understand the consequences of missing appointments. I do not know why she missed one. She probably didnt have the money to get there, or else she got the day and date mixed up. I dont know yet. Just that she rang me in a state about it.
I really think that she should be on a different benefit. Like the ESA? But I am not up with benefits. I thought originally she should have been on Income Support. but then I dont think they have that now do they??
Her little job is in a newly opened Pizza place, but they have only given her a 5 hour shift. So its not really giving her enough money to live on, and now that she is off sick with tonsilitus she wont even earn any money there at least for this week.
(I also think Payday is not weekly?)
Right I will get on to the Social Worker for her and see what they can do to help. I am struggling a bit today, still got a problem with my throat, coughing more now, and the voice is still rather broken!.
Yesterday I stayed at home and made some Pudsey fabric scrunchies and bandana's. Its Pudsey Day at school and they can go in thier own clothes etc with a donation.
Tomorrow I am getting a well earned rest from DGD. She is going to go to her Grandad for the weekend. (Thanks to her Aunty, Biggest of Mooloo who got on to him and arranged it).
So sorting out her clothes and packing her a bag for the weekend is on the agenda today.
I have also had an order for two lots of bunting so thats another job for me too. I started to cut out the letters for one of them yesterday evening, but my little gadget was not working very well, so I wasted a bit of fabric. Oh well. Maybe I will just go back to hand cutting. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Changed plans a bit yesterday, and stayed close to home.
I made some bunting for a baby called ESMEE, and then was really exhausted, so after lunch i went to bed for an hour or so.
I called the Charity and said I wouldnt be in, (I have a bit of an upset stomach, so cannot spread that, or the risk of that with the Service users.), Fealt guilty, but I really wasnt right.
I still am not that brilliant at all.
Biggest of Mooloo brought over DGD2 for me to babysit here instead of at hers, and she also brought the twins over, so they could help me, so the house was and still is full. Twin2 has terrible ear ache and tonsilitus, is on antibiotics. twin1 is bloated and constipated. DGD and I have coughs. What a lot we are today.!!!!!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
