reason im looking for these is Im having to stay in a hotel for 4 weeks and looking for ways to cook some meals on a budget without proper cooking facilities
  • Hi there.

I was lucky enough to pick one of these up brand new for £2 at a boot sale. We wanted to try it out in our caravan, as boiling pasta etc makes huge amounts of condensation.
So what do we think of it?
Its "OK". We have done pasta twists and tubes in it. It seems to make the pasta taste a bit starchy/floury compared to boiling but it isnt awful. I suspect it would be better with thinner pasta, like spaghetti and I think that the pasta would benefit from being rinsed through with boiling water after it is cooked. Also, you might need a minute or two more than the cooking instructions suggest, so check a piece before you empty the container.
We have tried asparagus in it and that went well, but haven't tried other veg yet.
If you can pick one up cheaply, I would have thought pasta with a stir in type sauce that doesn't need cooking would fit the bill very well.
    Hope that helps!

  • They are called Pasta Magic, not glass but plastic. If you google there are a few places that sell them..

  • I've also seen them advertised as pasta express. Try Googling pasta cooker and see if you can find a bargain. Good luck.
