Slight chance of getting accepted for the Barclay Initial Credit Card?

Barclay's phoned me up yesterday and asked if i was interested in applying for a Barclay Initial Credit Card.

Anyway, today, i decided to go ahead with it and apply online.

I thought it would be a waste of time as i have no credit so far, (turned 18 a few weeks ago)

Anyway went through the process and here's the message i got.

Thanks for your application. We promise we'll be in touch soon.

No 1 has any idea if you will be accepted, its the unknown question for anyone except those who will deal with your application.

Of course if you have a crystal ball then maybe use that.

You'll probably get accepted, assuming you're employed.

They don't hang about, do they? The minute you turn 18 they try and suck you into a lifetime of debt.

It reminds me of the Daily Star in the 1980s with their revolting "countdown to 16" practice before printing a topless picture of a young girl.
    Can I help?

well if you get the card then set up a DD for the FULL amount
use the card for normal everyday things you buy anyway and this will help buy a decent credit rating.
never get into debt (except that mortgage one day)
hopefully you are already starting to save.

Note for future use, STOP replying to cold calls.
It is nothing more than a sales pitch but you ended up feeling all special and valued. You're a punter like the rest of us and that person on the phone was simply trying to get a bonus.

Use the card wisely, the temptation for disaster is real and difficult to resist.
