Can I just phone the CheltGlos for a mortgage balance or would I have to write to them (and maybe have to pay for the information :undecided )

Can you set up online banking ? A phone call should get you the info, surely????0

Just checked their website for you. The mortgage statements appear to be sent out in Jan and Feb. If you haven't received it by end of March you can request one and that's free if you do it before end of April.
Personally i'd try the phone option - i'd be amazed if they won't / can't give you the balance as-is when you call. Not sure this is the correct department but should get you through.... 0845 6031 637.0 -
