Happy New Year everyone, just wondering if anyone knows if many shops are open today?

    IMO most are. I think supermarkets tend not to be but in latter years more and more seem to buck the trend, but other department/fashion/homeware...etc tyoe stores tend to be open and have done so for quite a few years now (it used to be New Years Day I'd go sale shopping when I was a teenager back in the day!)

    some of the bigger chains might not be - i know M&S in Bluewater isn't, but John Lewis is.

    The Admiral Group insurance companies aren't (I get an answering machine saying "we are open on Sundays between 10am and 4pm, please call back within these times". They could specifiy today's opening times but nooooo...) :wink:

    I'm in Scotland, most places are closed today although Asda is open 10-4 for the first time ever, obviously trying to get the jump on tesco lol
