hello, im currently on a working holiday in australia and will be until the end of the year. i earn around 400pound a week which gets paid into my australian bank account.
i am curently after an unsecured personal loan, ive tried aussie lenders but you have to be a citizen or permanent resident of australia and im only temp.
this means im a permanent uk residant and i still have my principle place of residence there and am on the electroll roll. ive noticed that many (all)uk lendors state that you have to be a pemanent resident, employed and have a uk bank account but am being told that im not eligable because i live abroad even though im technically on a holiday that i can work on.
any help to do with lenders that may be able to help would be super dooper

yeah i thought thats the case, i do find it strange that you can get a loan to go on holiday with but not one whilst your on holiday. as for the telling lies bit i fail when i have to give an aussie contact number for home and work. cheers0

Usually if you are absent from the UK for more 6 months you are no longer regarded as a permanent resident, although you probably have a right to permanent residence in the UK (assuming you have a British passport), and as you only have temporary residence in Australia you are kind of in limbo at the moment with regard to your country of residence. You didn't say what you needed the loan for? As you are probably on a working holiday maker visa and under 30 years old, my advice would be for you to ask a parent or relative to apply for a loan in their name for you and then you repay them.0 -
thanks chelsea boy, i was aware that being away for 6 months in a financial year ment your not a tax resident however i didnt realize you lost you permanent residancy after 6 months. that does leave me in a catch 22, i actually wanted the loan to pay off my parents equity they took out of there house to buy it off them using a vendors mortgage so using them wouldnt help me. is there any loop holes (legal) i was last in the uk for a month a few weeks ago so the 6 months havnt passed. ill keep working on it though. cheers0
