Capitalfinanceone.com FRAUD

Hello

I applied for a loan with this company who appear to be a genuine company but 3 days after my funds supposedly were sent from them I have still not received them. I have found a significant amount of negative publicity but a lot of that relates to those that have received funds and then not managed to repay as agreed. I have supplied them with my Bank card which they pre authorised for £1.10 to check it was valid all of my contact details including date of birth, employers details and know when I shall be paid which is the most worrying thing and now very concerned I will be victim of identity theft. I was in dire straits when I applied for the loan and obviously now this has made the situation far worse.

I have of course contacted them to cancel the loan that never arrived but I think they will now ask for a screenshot of my bank statement which I am concerned they may then use to pursue further identity theft and fraud.

On the phone they don't instantly come across as dodgy but it is quite clear now that they are.

My bank does not seem too helpful, it says that it will not refund payments to a finance company ( some unwritten banking rule?) and cannot guarantee that if I stop my card, payments will not stop coming out, why is this? I have explained tht this appears to be fraud? How can I prevent my account being defrauded when payday comes? Other commentators have said the company have been able to charge cards of other people in the household and also replacement cards, and of course they can attempt to claim a direct debit.

PLEASE HELP ME OUT...

Thanks

I am not looking forward to the new year.

  • Go and open a new bank account with a new bank. Not the same bank as banks may allow a payment from an old account if they know you have a new account with them.
The problem you have though is you will have to prove you have not had the funds so they will want to see your statement at some point. They will not just take your word that you have not had the money.

  • Thank you for your response.

The opening of a new bank account is difficult as it is a basic bank account anyway. I obviously am more than happy to prove to my bank that I have not received the loan but think if I provide capitalfinanceone.com with any more I.D I am likely to suffer fraud more easily? Don't you think?
  • Hi Ervin

Another basic bank account should be easy enough to open
Halifax Easycash and Barclay Cash Card account can be applied for online
Co-op Cashminder account can be opened up on the telephone

Remembering from my own experience the loan from CFO can take a while to show many working days (that excludes weekends)! - thats probably why there is no transfer fee applied unlike many other lenders who charge for a quick/same day transfer
Don't think CFO do direct debits - that would be far to easy wow then they would be re-paid on time and have no requirement for their roll on trick!

A statement is going to be your only way proving that you didn't receive the funds - you just need to black out your account details but I'm afraid you've already given them a lot of details so it won't make much difference

Please stop applying for these scummy loans online or you could end up in a broker situation = no loan but you will pay for giving out precious card details so freely
  • Thanks for your suggestions of who to apply for.

I am quite certain the funds will never arrive from them. It seems from what I have read that I am not alone.

I am hopeful other people can get in contact to talk about their dealings with them , in particular non receipt of a loan and any attempted payment of it around payday.

    Thanks in advance
  • Why don't you e-mail a complaint to info@capitalfinanceone.co.uk

It won't be resolved before Tuesday but at least you have a complaint in the system.

Make sure you keep a copy of the e-mail - you will need it if you later go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
  • No worries my friend - you may also like to report to their trade association
    British Cheque & Credit Association

CFO are members and ^ they may well be interested to hear especially if you get any attempted repayment issues or problems further down the line
