    I've been Money Tipped!
    Thanks again for posting kc101.

Not the best start of the year for myself and I'll be giving it a miss.
Not a bad thing as I'm starting an "Annual Grocery Challenge" from tomorrow and trying to be frugal as much as possible in the 1st 3 months and eat of of cupboards and freezer.
See what the week after brings.

I just bought 2 minces this weekend on offer for £3.00, so will probably give them a miss, we've got plenty of jacket potatoes in too. But red onions are a good offer, and leek and potato soup always goes down well. Will pick up a few bits. And try and get in early for the reduced bits too.

    thanks :)

  • Long time lurker but huge thanks to kco1 for posting these.

I tip the wink to other Lidl shoppers on what next weeks will be when I am in the know without disclosing where it comes from of course ! It is noticeable that quite a few elderley customers go for these deals so it all helps plus the meat is great quality too.

Will be stocking up on the mince next weekend - this will all help in keeping Januarys spend to a minimum.

We have just had the half price bacon in butties for lunch and they were yum - just as well as have another 5 paacks to eat up.

    Happy New Year

Yes - Beef, Edam and Onions are pretty good deals.

However just got 2.5 KG Maris Pipers for 35p, 1KG of Carrots for 10p and 1KG of onions for 39p in my local Aldi.

84p for 4.5KG of perfect vegetables. The original price on 2.5KG of Maris Pipers was 69p! Carrots - 39p.

I also bought a KG pack of rice, 500G of dried Penne pasta and 2 part baked bagettes for the grand total of - £2.18 !!!

Managed to spend £17.55 in the same amount of time before I went to Aldi in Sainsburys. Admittedley I did buy Ariel Excel, Raw King Prawns, suasages, Hellmanns mayo, Heinz ketchup, beansprouts and a half price pizza and bottle of wine.

All those items were on "offer" and had to check my receipt after purchase. Fair enough - Ariel laundry, king prawns and a bottle of wine aren't going to be cheap - but I still checked my receipt on the 8 items I bought.

Paying £2.18 on the 6 items I did I still had to check my receipt as it just seemed ridiculous!

I make a delicious mash, fish pie, cottage / shepherds pie - all for 35p!

Macaroni cheese / bolognaise pasta / creamy salmon and asparagus are very easy with the Penne.

20p a baguette - always useful in the cupboard when you run out of bread.

And Egg Fried rice has to be one of the easiest dishes ever.

Electric steamer, cover the rice in stock - doesn't matter if veg, chicken or beef - just give it some colour and flavour.

Immediately chill once cooked. Get some frozen peas out and cover in water whilst waiting for the rice to chill. Once thawed, drain.

Sliced onion - soften it by frying. Add the cooled rice and peas and Soy / Oyster sauce to coat. Once all coated and warmed make a space in the pan and crack egg in. Make sure it is all broken up.

Once starts to set blend in with all the other ingredients.

    Serve piping hot.

But also keeps very well and can be blasted in Micro later or even frozen!

I never buy rice from the Chinese and resent buying it from the Indian but my local Indian is so good I always think they hate me when I just order a lamb Dopiaza and 2 popadums!

My local Chinese can get lost though. It's £2.50 for a portion of egg fried and i can do an equally as good portion for 50p...

Looking forward to getting the mince in. Should last us all month for various meals. Gonna also get the bacon joint. The last one we got was gorgeous and it last only two days as we ate the lot:-) But if we boil it again it will make a nice little mini roast and the stock and some of the ham will be nice for a leek and potato soup. It always makes loads of portions I can have a work for lunch as well. Just perfect. Plus I am getting myself up a nice little stock of items like squash for the kids, the odd soda here and there and the husband loves old Jamaica Ginger beer so it's great all round. I only wish all the store were closer to each other where I lived. As sometimes it's not really worth the petrol my beat of a MPV sucks up just to take me to the shops for a sale.

But thanks for posting this thread I look forward to reading it every week:-)
