Thanks Vikki_20 have booked to see again for hubby birthday as he loves this show. Great deal as it includes the weekend shows during the Olympic dates i.e 27 Jul to 12 Aug and 29 Aug to 9 Sept.

I would be careful about which show you book for ! at least 3 musicals will be dark for the olympics periods !
Will still take bookings but can cancel at any time !

what do you mean 3 musicals will be dark for the olympics?

    It means they'll be closed.

That's a risk with most shows. Anything can happen between now and August. I wouldn't worry about it. Book what you want to see. Just make sure you stay within walking distance of the theatre. Public transport will be a mess.

Was thinking the same. Would love to take OH but getting there and finding accommodation would make it very difficult. See link for report on shows closing. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/theatre/8985167/West-End-shows-will-close-during-Olympics-Lloyd-Webber-warns.html

Lloyd Webber is right. I see on average 100+ plays a year. I'm not planning to see anything during the Olympics. I live in London, so I don't need a hotel room, but the public transport situation is enough to put me off.

If it all possible, I'll go away for the duration of the Olympics. Leave the city to the tourists.

Yes Andrew Llyod Weber is closing his London musicals down during the Olympics as he claims that there will be little interest in visiting the theatre , however if you look on Jersey Boys a lot of their seats are already booked up, so it would be more cost effective to put the show on I would have thought.

Jersey Boys is selling the £20 tickets at a loss. They can afford to do this because the production broke even years ago. Many shows haven't. The majority close at a loss. Even the ones that break even can take many years to do so.

I don't know Lloyd Webber's economic reasoning for shutting three shows, but the man knows his numbers.

BTW, just because the ticketing website shows a lot of sold seats, it doesn't mean that's the case. It's much more complicated than that.
