Frozen Rhubarb

The dried stuff can go anywhere - doesn't have to be in the kitchen. My extra flour and sugar are in a lidded plastic box under a bed.

Frozen fruit - reorganising your freezer should make room for this - it can't be that big. If not, what are you eating today/tomorrow? Make it something from the freezer and defrost it today, making room for the fruit.

  • The Scottish dessert Cranachan (don't think I can post links but you'll easily find it on Google) uses raspberries and oats.

You could make some rhubarb jam or chutney, although obviously you would have to find somewhere to store even that! - but anywhere would do, even bedrooms or the understairs cupboard or perhaps a garage or shed at a real push.

You could make jam from the frozen fruit and sugar.
  • Decanting the frozen fruit into small freezer bags may help too - less inflexible than the rigid plastic boxes it often comes in.

The thing that jumps out at me from those ingredients is a big crumble! Fruit, sugar, oats and flour...yum!
  • Dried stuff can be kept anywhere, I have dried pasta in a plastic box in my wardrobe.

If things are in tubs take them out and put into plastic freezer bags, you wouldn't believe how much space this can save I saved half a drawer worth of space when I first started it.

  • Also decant anything that may be in boxes in freezer into bags as this frees up space, and take something out to have for lunch/dinner today or tomrrow.

And I also store dried stuff in random places too!

  • Hi Everyone

Thanks for your ideas, I now have two raspberry and rhubarb crumbles cooling on the side, some raspberry scones (these were almost a disaster - note to self frozen rasperries = runny batter!!!!) and to try and free up some space in the freezer I've got some mince, onions, cannellini beans and potatoes in the slow cooker though i'm not too sure what I'm going to do with it (it smells fantastic though!!)

Sugar flour etc can go anywhere you can find a space even if it is the bottom of a wardrobe.
As for the frozen Raspberries & Rhubarb IF TYHEY ARE NOT ON A BAGE TAKE THEM OUT AND PUT IN A FREEZER BAG, THEN GO THROUGH YOUR FREEZER AND REMOVE ANY MEAT FOR PLASTIC TRAY AND PUT THE CONTENTS IN A BAGE, AMAZING HOW MUCH MORE ROOM YOU WILL HAVE (sorry for cap lock).
