No turkey drumsticks for sale anywhere!

I'm not sure where to put this so hope it's ok to start a new thread.
I know shops often run out of things all at the same time (the Great Brussels Sprout Run of 2009 springs to mind) but this one I really can't fathom at all.
There are no turkey drumsticks for sale in Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys or Waitrose/Ocado, according to MySupermarket (all showing "out of stock"). My mum tried to buy some from her butchers' shop but they don't have any either and don't know when they will have them.
What on earth is going on? Have we bred legless turkeys all of a sudden?

Hi jpscloud,
I've moved your thread over to the Grocery Shopping board where you may get more help finding what you are looking for. On a personal note the last thing I want to see right now is a turkey drumstick. I have two going spare if you want them.

Thanks Pink. We've had a disrupted Christmas due to a family member being in hospital (long term) and we haven't had a traditional Christmas dinner, or any traditional Christmas food for that matter, so I'm not turkey'd out - I use turkey drumsticks instead of rubber chicken and have just used my last one out of the freezer. I can't believe that they can't be found for love nor money at the moment and wondered if anyone knew of a supply somewhere.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

I don't know anything about the turkey distribution business but maybe the answer is :
Outside the festive season, most turkey meat is sold is slices at delicatessen counters or pre-packed chilled units in supermarkets. This is, essentially, the white meat of the bird - thereby leaving the legs as surplus to requirements. The processors sell these cheaply to clear them.
During, and after, the festive season, everyone is fed up of turkey, so the demand for sliced turkey disappears for a few weeks until we all get over it - therefore, no legs available either.0 -
I couldn't find any in our local shops in the weeks before Christmas, either.0

Yes, same here Mojisola - I've been trying to restock for a couple of months now.
David, I did wonder about that, but all the other cuts (including turkey mince) are as available as ever, with no seasonal variation in availability.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
