Hi all ive took a loan of £12000 over 28 months £474 a month to clear my credit card debt and a small overdraft and the rate that i think i got was 8.8% ,is that pretty good in this day and age.

Also i bank with halifax and do internet banking for those who also have halifax online banking can you overpay online instead of ringing them up as im wanting to try and knock it down to 12 months;unfortunatly it wouldnt let me select 12 months online

Thanks all

I also recently (in the last few months) took out a £10k loan with Halifax at 8.8% - I used it pay off credit cards with a ridiculously high APR.

I was pleased with the 8.8% APR.

I rang them last week regarding overpaying from my Halifax Internet banking and the CSA on the phone gave me a sort code and account number to pay to - however when I tried to set up as a payment it it wouldn't allow me to add 'Halifax Personal Loans' as a recipient!

Meant to phone them back and enquire about this but I'll not be in a position to overpay for a while so put it off.

Is it possible to ring them and overpay? Can you give some details please (ie. any extra charges, payment by debit card I assume?).

    Thanks.

[EDIT] The details the CSA gave me were sort code 77-77-90 account number 90000468 and quote your loan reference number (the long number starting 1001) as the payment reference. You can however set this up as a standing order, which I've just done.

I'd recommend searching this forum/Google for the sort code and account number above (or ringing Halifax) before setting anything up to confirm it's correct - you should never use a sort code and account number for payments given to you without at least double-checking it's right!

Standing order thats right, I would send £1.00 to the loan account to make sure its reached ok before paying large amounts.
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)
