Faulty shoes

I bought a pair of knee length, heeled boots 1 year ago. I keep them for 'good wear' and have worn them less than 12 times in the past 12 months.

The other day, I took them out for their first wear of the winter and within half an hour of wearing them, the heel on one of the boots started to come completey away at the point where it meets the main part of the boot. They cost £240 and needless to say I was extremely annoyed, especially given how carefully I look after them. I took them back to the shop today to be met with a surly response from the manager who says she will not do anything to help me.

Surely the least the shop should do is repair the boots??

Comments

  • if you have proof of purchase, the store should send them away to see if it is a fault with the boot and not with wear, if so they will probably repair it.
i have a pair of boots that cost me a lot from Dune that were good wear ones too and have had numerous problems with them, such a pain in the butt!

hopefully someone else will come along and clarify or have more info for you :-)

I don't think they are really obliged to do anything as it's been so long and they could say "oh you didn't store them properly it was too humid and weakened the glue". Did you try with the receipt?
The best thing I can think of is just to get them reheeled somewhere.

I'd say the store are supposed to mend them, you need to show proof of purchase but this could be as good as a bank statement. The store may either send them off to be repaired or replace them. I don't think your entitled to a refund but they offer you one instead but you are at the very least entitled to a repair.
  • Thanks for your comments all, very useful. Hopefully they will do the responsible thing.
