Pc Problems, can't update or download

Big problems with pc, can't update Windows security, symantec or download any other antivirus programmes. Tried disabling one firewall so only one is running. Tried Firefox and Google Chrome. I either get an empty file on download or "Windows can't open the file, needs to know what created it"
Internet works apart from that.
Can anyone please advise? Thanks

Cheers, can't understand why on Windows Security Centre the Virus Protection is off. I can't see how to switch it on. Tried clicking on it but it doesn't go green.

Thanks, how do I do that? I already have malawares. The other two won't download. The fix zip just freezes and the other downloads an empty file then says not valid.

Found the "hijack this programme". Clearly not for a novice and I'm a novice. Can anyone please advise?

update malwarebytes and do a full scan

scan with hijackthis and post a log

Thanks, updated malawares, just about the only thing that will update, found two infections, quarantined, deleted, rebooted. Tried every different file for blinking computer. Either empty or Windows can't open them.

Hi closed, - the above reg entries have the dreaded forum gratuitous spaces in them , IIRC if you paste it again inside CODE /CODE [] then it will circumvent
