  • Well you know what we're going to say don't you, lol!

Cancel credit expert....unless you have it for a very special reason?

Sky - I know this is the basic package but do you watch all the channels. If you don't cut back further....better still have a look at the deal that Sky are offering at the moment where you can get phone/internet/tv from £26 per month.

Socialising (both you personally and with the children) and gambling needs to be cut back. Yes it is hard to say no, but with practice it gets easier....I promise you!

What's the PC payment for .....every little helps you know, lol!

Butty Breaks .....not good for you !

What is the Army Troop Function payment for ?

Have a look on the old style board for inspiration - they will reduce your food bill dramatically!
    2014 Target;

  • As i live in Germany my food and all other things are slightly different from most peoples on here. There is now has a %19 tax band on everything over here. We are exempt from some of it but not all . Where i live i cannot get the basic army tv package which costs nothing as they won't replace the aerial on my flat so if i don't have the basic sky i have no tv at all, troop function is basically what we pay each month for things we do together as a team ie, bowling etc. could cut it out for definate,

well done for posting your soa shooter, and welcome to mse!

it seems to me you already know where your going wrong with your outgoings so i won't waste my time or yours telling you again! (sorry if that sounded harsh, it sooooo wasn't meant to :o )

i know it's hard cutting back on the socialising side of things, but why not try and find free or very cheap things to do? i know there are place specific threads for over here which have that type of thing but i doubt there are any german ones. but what about on your day out with the kids you go for a walk to the park with a picnic and have a kick about? it's free but it's still quality time with them.

    Hi Shooter

I think that you can see yourself where you can cut down and save significant amounts. Some suggestions, you may feel controversial:

    Credit Expert - £5.99
    Army troop function - £30
    Kickboxing - £25
AON Insurance - £37.15 What is this?
    Me Socialising - £150
    Me Gambling - £70
    Butty Breaks - £30
    Total £348.14

Days Out with kids - £60. I am not suggesting cutting down time with the kids!! However there are often free things that can be done instead. Depending on their age sometimes all they require is your undivided attention.

Like I said at the top, I think you know what you need to do, even if it is for just a while until you start seeing a dent in the debt. Try looking for free things to do, it's amazing what's out there!

    Good luck for the future

  • Hi,
I'm new to this forum but not knew to the old debt thing.I am not an expert with IVA's but have looked into them myself.

My understanding of the IVA is that you have to have a certain amount of debt per person before you can apply for one.

Then a repayment of an IVA is agreed between you and a creditor through a county court.

If you fail to maintain the agreed payments you leave yourself open for the creditors taking things a stage further.

If you are with the CCCS are they managing your DMP? If you are struggling they maybe able to reschudule the family budget and reduce the surplus cash available for your creditors.

If you have a DMP with CCCS and are still borrowing funds/using credit cards etc, this is not helping you one littel bit. I have found that you must be honest with the people who are trying to help you and honest with yourself, otherwise you get shot in the foot(believe me i know).

Just remember that for one reason or another circumstances change all the time. Although 11 year sounds alot to pay off your debt, if you can get by day by day with the funds you have now then thats got to be the main priority.

I would disipline myself and avoid taking the IVA unless unavoidable

I have over £46,000 of unsecred debt with a £160,000 mortgage, although I earn good money we basically live off of one income. Thus we really struggle from one month to the next. If it wernt for CCCS and the DMP we are on which has consolidated our financial position I don'f think I would be here now.

I am still smilling and feel strong in my fight to get debt free, albeit I will be well into my 80's when I achieve this. (Hopefully I will still be employed then)
