Well done Dolphin :). Of course, old hands like me and Honey know that Day One tends to be the easiest. It's the 6th today and I have just eaten the other half of yesterday's chocolate biscuits and a bowl of ice cream :(.

Oooops! Don't know what I'll be like on the 6th day but it was only the 2nd day yesterday and I'm already craving cake.

Ok, day two of the challenge went pretty much the same as day one...

    1) No chocolate, sweets or biscuits eaten.
    2) No cake eaten (but the cravings are starting already)
    3) Light off at 11.15 again so still not quite 11 (maybe I need to aim for 10.45 :))
    4) I have meal planned to the end of the week only using things that we already have in the house. On Friday/Saturday I will meal plan for next week. I do an online shop every Sunday using my delivery saver so if I meal plan before then I can order anything we need to save me time going to the shops during the week.
    5) No spends on other people.

    Day 3 yesterday...

    1) No chocolate, sweets or biscuits eaten.
    2) Still no cake eaten (surprisingly).
    3) Light off at 10.55pm :j
    4) No meal planning yesterday as already knew what I was/am having Thurs/Fri/Sat. I need to do a meal plan for Sunday onwards and order my shopping for Sunday either today or tomorrow.
    5) No spends on other people (I think I might do ok on this in May because I have no plans to see any family other than my parents for the next few weeks and that's when it gets out of hand).

How are you getting on Mrs H and Mrs HB?

That sounds like a 'plan' to me!

See below. Not my finest hour(s) ....

Your Marvellous May, on the other hand, seems to be going very well. I love hearing good news!

    1. Another 'giving him a break' on my part kind of day although I did the basics yesterday with him and the vet did the basics this morning. He had to go for a jab this morning, so we visited the surgery yesterday afternoon for a bit of familiarisation which would have been 100% okay if an out of control *ack *ussell hadn't gone for him, but other than that it was as good as a vet visit could possibly be. This morning she brushed him, touched his legs, examined his teeth (there's a bad one, but only one), jabbed him and gave me some advice. Brilliant.
    2. Nothing on insurance again. Oops.
    3. Leftovers of all descriptions, and I'm currently eating cheese for a late breakfast. Oops. No time to think about eating hobnobs so at least I didn't pig out on them.
    4. Finished clearing up at midnight but I was still buzzing so the light didn't go out until 1.15am, but I still woke up at 5.30 which was excellent..
    5. Emergency flying in my office, the shower room and the bathroom by me, vacuumming by OH on the middle layer, ie all the bits that show. I even swept the kitchen floor but I can't say I did much else.
Epic fail, basically, but I did everything that I had to do and as far as I know I didn't make any expensive or stupid mistakes and nothing got broken. I also discovered that the unhappy whiney barky dog in the hatchback boot behind the dog guard is a happy, smiley, contented, calm dog on the back seat because I couldn't lift him into the boot on my own. Now all I have to do is work out how to attach his harness to the seat belt and we'll be legal.
    Better is good enough.

It sounds to me like the trip to the vets went better than expected! :j

It looks like all of those earlier nights have paid off if you can have such a late night and still manage to get up so early.

I think you are underestimating what you did manage to achieve against your list yesterday. Definitely not an epic fail.

he was frightened of all interventions that feel intimate to him while in rescue. The idea is to get him to be easier to handle, because when my vet spoke to the rescue vet it became clear that examining the dog's ears or legs or pretty much anything else is totally out of the question. I don't know what he did to their groomer, but I suspect mine would have a problemette with being growled at, bitten or whatever, as well. He's coming on; I need to be patient and make it all fun and associated with happy things.
Bless him, it will probably develop naturally. Maybe in the evenings, when he's relaxed and tired, you could just sit together on the floor watching TV while you stroke and talk to him. He will probably start to relax and enjoy being touched all over while you gradually increase the bits you are touching. No need to even hold a brush and, as you say, it will be a happy time.

    1. Face and running my hands up and down his front legs. He seemed fine with it. A bit of brushing, but less focussed on that to give him a bit of a break.
    2. Nothing on insurance again. Oops.
    3. Twinks and leftover cake doggie-bagged to OH after the cream tea on Monday scoffed. And cheese. Oops.
    4. I've worked out I'm doing roughly an extra 5000 paces a day at breakneck speed because of the dog so I am totally exhausted by bedtime and sleeping fantastically well because of it; I just don't have the energy to read after about 10.30pm. That will be helping with your 'lose a pound of surplus me' goal too
    5. Emergency flying and dim lighting are the only way forward now. *shrug* Hope your meal for ten went well. I would be a nervous wreck at hosting that!

It turns out that the dog guard now stops the dog jumping into the 'boot' of our estate car!:D
How can you say that's an epic fail??? You're focussing on the most important thing right now and doing a grand job of it. Go You!

There is, but you are off to a flying start and putting me to shame (see below!). Are the cake cravings getting any easier? When I started with Fab Feb I thought giving up alcohol would be the biggie, but it turned out to be sugar and chocolate. I did manage for that month, but I've failed every month since :o. Including May!
