Lost job on 22nd of December

Hey I had a temporary job up to christmas. Hoped they might keep me on after but didn't. Could I apply for Job seekers allowance tomorro I think the offices re-open then. Or is it best to wait til after New Years?

Make a claim online now. Claims are not back dated, so if you delay, you may miss out on benefits you may be entitled to. Do it now!

You need to claim ASAP and you should have claimed on the 23rd as you will have to explain why you didn't claim before and it can't be back dated

Ok thanks. Why would I need to explain why I didnt claim on the 23rd? I will make a new claim tomorro.

If you want it back dated as the 23rd was 6 days ago now & you have missed out on some £

Ok I have one last Question I don't get my last payment from this job til 6th Janurary due to them doing wages late as they are shut over the xmas period. Enough though the last day I work was the 22nd. I Don't get payed for that week till the 6th of Janurary will this effect me claiming?

No but you need to hand in your P45 at the job centre once the claim has started and the form will ask if you have recieved your last payment etc
