Which is the best chocolate to buy in supermarkets?

May I ask for your advice regarding the best chocolate you can buy in supermarkets like Waitrose, Tesco or Sainsbury?

I've just bought a Premium Thorntons, but somehow it didn't give a 'Wow' feeling when you tasted it.

Your recommendation is appreciated.

If you have a LIDL near you try there.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Without a doubt- green and blacks chocolate is by far the best.
Its hard to say which particular one, but i would have to say the white one, although the ginger one is the 2nd best!

I think the Waitrose own-brand fruit and nut dark chocolate is pretty good for "normal" chocolate.

Personally I find that the extra fancy chocolate that's a hyperbolic 99.99% cocoa solids or something is too bitter for me.
  • Waitrose own brand is pretty good. Green and Blacks not so good as the sugar in it tastes burnt. Waitrose sell a line called 'Willies' that is really top quality, but very expensive.
  • Hi

I have been buying the small bars of chocolate from Aldi, the white chocolate and dark chocolate are delicious. Trying to reduce my chocolate intake which is why I am buying smaller packs!

Brand name is Choceur and they come in small (40g) packs of five I think. Well worth a try.
  • I love Ferrero and Cadburry.

I find the Aldi chocolate cheap and cheerful. Not the best, but entirely edible. I have a whole lot of it in the kitchen as it's my go-to for making home-made chocolate biscuits etc. Oh, and I eat it too :D

But I did a direct A/B comparison between the Waitrose own-brand dark chocolate and Aldi dark chocolate while I had both in, and the Waitrose was just a bit smoother and better tasting. Not a night and day difference however.
