I've got one now! (Small rant within)

After 2 non paying bidders this week, another bidder has managed to 'Buy it Now' on a £400 item of mine, then emailed me ten minutes later to say 'I don't want the item again' costing me almost £40 in fees.

TSFE buyers - they are like buses! Just gotta wait 4 days to open an NPB, don't trust them to agree to a mutual.

Raise a cancellation request and then you will get your fees back.

As I said above, I don't trust them to accept a mutual cancellation.

They've messaged you to say they don't want it! There is an awful lot of mistrust over ebay transactions!! I've always cancelled where a buyer has said they don't want it any more and never once has anyone declined the cancellation out of spite. I'm a business seller so we are talking more than a few times.

Worst case scenario, you've got nothing to lose - if you don't raise the cancellation then you lose the fees anyway so if they decline the cancellation you are no worse off. I'm sure ebay would consider refunding you anyway as the buyer has sent you a message saying they don't want it.

If you raise a non-paying bidder dispute they could pay, return it for a refund and then give you negative feedback! Not worth the hassle really seeing as they have already stated they don't want it!

But it's not just about the fees, its about trying to get the message across to buyers like this that clicking BIN and then changing their mind is not on! When they're unable to buy things due to having too many NPBs the message might sink in.

Sometimes people just change their minds or simply make mistakes! At least the buyer had the decency to message the seller rather than just leave it! The OP is setting themselves up for negative feedback - if they don't care about that then all is good I guess!

If they don't pay during the NPB, any feedback is removed.

I stand to lose £39.97 if I raise a mutual cancellation and they decline. It's just not worth it.

The item is £400. I doubt they will pay. If they do, and want to return, they will have to pay postage costs. I'm just safer all round with an NPB.

But if they do pay and then return it for a refund, which you will have to give, then they can leave you neg feedback and you will still be down the fees.

They said they don't want it so why would they decline the cancellation? I guess I'm just more trusting of people!

It's also collection only, as it's large, so I'd have to arrange a courier at their cost.

We are never going to agree. I am not going to request a mutual.
