2 Year ago i lost my father due to a long battle with cancer, and i was living with both my parents. My mum is unaware of me & my partners debts therefore that makes it a whole lost complicated. There is no way i could tell her, there isn't even any point going there! Anyway, she moved out of the house last year with her new partner and me and S are currently renting off her, so its not as if we are spending a fortune on rent. She has been good to us. She is looking to sell the house in the next few months, so we are going to be in a rut. It's not as if she would see us on the street, but i can see it being a problem trying to explain why we cant afford to buy a house or rent other accommodation. But, once the house has been sold, she is giving me & my sister a lump sum.
Maybe so, but none of this changes the fact that you just can't afford a mortgage right now! Ok, so you're probably going to have to find somewhere else to live, but it'll have to be somewhere rented I'm afraid. Yes, your rent might go up but there should be scope within your budget for this (from the little that you've posted). Especially if you think you can make repayments on a mortgage.....0 -

Of course not, but then you start saving for a deposit and rent in the meantime.....put the money you used to pay out in debt repayments into a savings account. It's pretty simple really!0 -
Hi, I hope you don't mind but I have sent you a Private Message answering your original question!0

Beetlebug,
I've had a look through your previous posts. You asked this question in January and it was suggested that you contact a mortgage broker. did you do this? They will give you a definitive answer.
However you also asked what to do if you couldn't meet your DMP payment; and if you could get a moretgage on an IVA.
It looks to me like you have not addressed your underlying overspending/ budgeting problems, and are reacting badly to people suggesting you do this?
I would reiterate the suggestion of speaking directly to a whole of market, fee free mortgage broker in the first instance and getting an idea of the costs first.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -

Personally I think you are deluding yourself.
You can't ask for advice on an open forum and then complain when someone says something you don't want to hear. I'm sorry if you feel people were rude but it just seems that you want to ignore everyone that disagrees with you.
What did you expect people to say? That increasing your debt by 500 % sounds like a good idea?
Don't forget that when a lender works out what you can borrow they will take away any payments for continuing credit commitments first.0 -
I realise my situation, but thought that the bluntness of it was rather rude. Im not moaning, i just wanted advice.0
