Bought 3 new shirts for the Christmas hols, only worn them once each time, each been washed once and all 3 have unsightly deo marks under the armpits, any ideas why?
And are there any out there that do not leave White marks on shirts etc?
Cheers

I think its the aluminium in the deoderants which does that- not 100% sure but think this is the cause, you could try an aluminium free deoderant (The Bodyshop, Bionsen and a few different types in Holland and Barratt) but they don't tend to stop sweating in the same way/as well as the normal stuff. I have tried plenty of the "no white marks" stuff from Sure, Nivea and etc and whilst the white mark thing is reduced its by no means prevented and you still get white marks on clothes.
I would suggest applying less, leaving what you have on to dry and using a stain remover when cleaning or even soaking clothes before washing though if things have been left to dry on what does come off is limited and may not come off at all, I've lost a lot of sportswear this way!
Its worth remembering that sweat itself does not smell, what smells is the bacteria on your skin and even on your clothes which reacts with the sweat and causes a smell, if you make sure to wash every day or twice a day when you know you sweat a lot (even if its a skin-sponge washing only key areas its got to be better then nothing) it could help. Make sure you use a soap designed for skin with anti-bacterial properties and wash well as your skin is 3 dimensional, it has pores and dirt and bacteria can hide in the pores, a brush over ith water does very little, you really need some sort of a scrub/rubbing action. Also remember to wash very clean all sponges, brushs or etc after washing as bacteria can also live in those and then end up on your skin with each wash which sort of defies the point!
Clean clothes daily also makes a difference. Can be a pain as you end up with so much washing and a home full of clothes horses but does help deal with the problem.0 -
I don't know why it happens, but I can recommend the solid stick type deodorants for avoiding it. Normal roll-on or spray ones always seem to leave white marks.Shrinking my mortgage!

I have found that if you wait for the deodorant to be fully dry before dressing the white marks don't happen.0
