Unagreed Wage Cut

I've recieved a letter recently to my home address from the company i work for saying that they agreed the wrong amount originally for me to get paid (£22,500), so it will now be reduced to £22,000 a year. I think the £500 extra was due to the fact that i have a degree.
Surely this cannot happen without my consent?

If you have not worked there for 1 year then there isn't alot you can do about it I am afraid because you have no protection against unfair dismissal until you have worked there 1 year. The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

+1. You could say "Don't you think I'm worth an extra £9.62 a week? TBH though at the end of the day you'd be arguing the toss over less than £6.30 take home pay a week. I doubt things so desperate that the price of a gallon of petrol a week makes a difference? Whilst it is a bit disappointing, its hardly worth losing a job over or risking future promotion.0

With an outfit like this, you have to look after yourself first and move on ASAP.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

You have no idea who their employer is so I don't know how you can make that comment.0 -

But in fairness, employers who !!!! up and then try to make their staff pay the price are not good employers.
I've worked for companies like this in the past and they're not nice to work for. I worked for one who started making deductions from my salary for no apparent reason then wrote to everyone else saying they'd made a mistake but would not be seeking the money back from them. Then I got an email telling me they'd not taken enough  I walked. Best thing I done as the company made it quite clear that despite working harder than others, doing the company shopping (tea, coffee, milk, sugar etc) driving 51 miles for them every weekend, working any overtime they urgently needed covering etc, they chose to treat me like dirt. The money they took back from me didn't even cover the unpaid mileage I'd done for them every weekend so in reality a decent employer would of written it off.
If the op is having £500 taken off them then it's a bad company. Good companies get it right and if they do !!!! it up they don't make the staff suffer for it.
I worked for another years ago that advertised in the JC at £6.50 per hour. 2 weeks into the job they said it was only £6ph. I showed them the print from the job centre and they honoured it. THAT is a good company.0 -

If I were one of the new managers, I would be quite irritated to be put into that situation, and I would immediately start looking, because I would suspect that it would not be to long before it happened to me.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Do you want the job?
When were you offered the £22,500.
What employer notice do you have?
If this was a recent job offer ,
I would have a casual chat with the boss along the lines of
"!!!!!! is this all about"
A formal reply along the lines
"If you want to withdraw the offer of £22,500 that I accepted, then please give the appropriate notice".0
