Washing machines from where and which brand

Options
Hi,

I'm looking for a freestanding washing machine upto £250 and haven't a clue what to look for as it is my first time buying one. Really the cheaper the better but I understand you get what you pay for. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

go to your local library and check the copies of 'Which?' magazine for a report on washing machines. It will tell you the 'best buy' in your price range.

You could check the running costs here, as it can vary by an extra £50 a year, a higher spin speed option will help reduce drying times

Beko have some at £250 or less which show running costs of £38:11 a year

Check sites like pricerunner for the best deal, though electrical 123 is mostly competitive

  • 3 months ago I bought from appliancesonline website. It was the best price available.
I chose a 7kg indesit.. so far so good. I think its brilliant to have a little LCD screen to tell you the time left..etc
  • Actually I've just the yearly costs from that sustit website link and its quite expensive my indesit...in the £50-range...a year..
So maybe go with the beko? the beko brand was on my shortlist when I was researching which washing machine to buy, so not a bad brand.

You could do a lot worse than buying a Bosch machine.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Agree, I prefer Bosch washing machines.

When I bought one a while back I went into Currys and asked them everything I wanted to know. Once I found one I liked, searched online for the cheapest and ordered it.

    Things to lookout for:
1, Size/dimensions...measure where you are intending to fit it.
    2, Capacity
    3, Energy rating

This is a great idea, how often do they produce the report? My library says they have 10 years of Which? magazines, where should I start the search? Any particular month/year?

Wouldn't buy a BEKO! Most unreliable in various surveys. I had one and it only lasted 14 months, worst purchase ever.
I now have a John Lewis and it's been great into it's 4th year and not a problem so far. Do 1 - 2 loads a day.
John Lewis also include an extended warranty in the price and I think yhey are made by zanussi??
