Does anyone know if there is a way of getting the Amstrad emailer phone to work without signing up to the Amserve email service. I have read elsewhere that the premium rate calls it makes to check if there is any email can cost on average £60+ per year!!
The phone is a bargin price but that makes it a bit of a rip off.
On the old ones (the black models) you could cancel your email account and you just got a messege on the screen reminding you to sign up. However, on the new silver ones if you don't sign up the phone beeps and wont dial out or let you do anything with it.
Don't know if it states this on the box or not but if it doesn't then isn't that misleading??
Just thought someoneout there might know a way round this. If not then it will be going in the loft.
Thanks in advance.
Mark.

to be honest the loft is the best place for it
as far as I know having read about how it works there isn't a way round it.. happy to be corrected though!Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
Just as i thought. I tried to email them but they didn't want to know and claimed that it was sold as an email system and not a phone. What they didn't understand though is that while ever its plugged in it will be displaying their adverts which i am sure they earn money for.
But if its stuck in the loft its not displaying anything.
Oh well.0
