Okay, first you don't yet have one year's service, but on 30th December you will qualify for protection under the unfair dismissal legislation (because your one week statutory notice is added on. In reality nothing much is likely to happen over christmas/new year anyway.

Beacuse you will then have 1 year's service, this means that your employer must follow proper procedures before dismissing you. This means giving you warnings, and further training if appropriate and giving you chance to improve.

But I would have thought that since the cash office job is in addition to your normal work, the worst that is likely to happen is that they take you off cash office work and leave you on your normal job (though of course I can't guarantee that).

I think in your shoes I'd wait until 6th January (to be safe) and then mention to your manager or the person who is training you, that you feel out of your depth, and seek reassurance about what will happen if you find that you are not suitable for the cash office job.
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.
