Great find. I read somewhere it depends on how many points you have as to what the advantage machine gives you.

I only have about £5 worth so all it gives me are the 10% off shower gel type of offers

I have nearly £70 in points and I haven't had any good offers for a while :(

I've got £35 worth on my card and still the only offers I got yesterday were 10% off an eye test and something stupid like 20 points when you buy vitamins!! :(

So it sems to be you only get good offers if you have upwards of £100 in points - any advance on £100 ???? :D

So that would the Boots big spenders - mainly be mums with babies and toddlers or the young single and free who spend masses on cosmetics and their appearance :D

  • I've got over £100 on my advantage card but didn't get the voucher offered to me by the machine when it came up last time, was not impressed, will try again this time
  • I've had the free concealer voucher three times (and got the free varnishes twice) with points balances around £30 the first two times and around £5 the last time. I know have £25ish but today only had offers of 50% off a photo album or something and 75 points on Olbas. Rubbish!

Well I can say when I had £106 in points I got offered the voucher, spent them all and took it to £6 and still got offered the voucher, after printing one out and using it.

I do think you get better vouchers when you have less though i.e 250 points when you spend £25 whereas the more I have the threshold is higher i.e 350 points when you spend £45.

My experience of Boots is that I get better offers from the points machine when I am a regular shopper. Even if my actual points total isn't that huge.

Umpteen years ago, I was in my local (at the time) tiny Boots two or three times a week, buying nappies, creams, medicines etc. And I would regularly use my points to buy stuff in there - so my points total stayed pretty low.

When I went to the Big Boots near work, the machine had millions of offers for me :j:j

Nowadays, I don't shop in Boots very regularly. But, when I do, I'm looking for points and bargains. I had amassed a nice total of points (over 50 pounds worth).

But I still got the same eight offers.

One of them was the free no17 concealer. But, when I tried to get the 'free gift' by buying a concealer (using the voucher) and one other item, the voucher just beeped and beeped and beeped and refused to be used.

Good luck to those who had it work for them. I needed to buy another no17 item to get the free gift. Others might find the same thing.
